Im battling my starter too
With a new battery it would not start
but if I tap the relay it would work
so I ordered a new relay, only when the battery is around 6.7v it starts no problem
but around 6.5v I again have to tap the new relay to get it to start
This drives me crazy, its sold as a 6v relay but im guessing it likes a high 6v to operate
The actual starter motor runs really well, even at a low voltage
its just the relay is power hungry which really sucks
so if you have at least a 6.6v battery try tapping the relay while holding the starter button, and of course in neutral
I read if the neutral safety switch is not working correctly this can also keep the e start from working
so you need a good bulb in the gauge to show its really in neutral
mine lights up fine its just for me a voltage issue with my relay

The battery is fully charged...When I bought the bike and it had the bad battery I did get the headlight to come on once....but hasnt since....I am assuming it is a connection issue but am not 100% sure where to start? I am a rookie to working on these but am willing to tackle it. Also when I hit the horn button it makes the slightest noise but that is it....I am assuming they are all related.
