While some folks will ride these bikes and others with minor exhaust leaks, I muchly prefer to have them sealed up the way Honda intended. exhaust gas is hot and can be damaging to surrounding parts, including some of your parts.

Thanks.. It is an original exhaust assembly and head. I think the pipe is slightly out of line as it curves into the head. It is now mounted and the 6mm nuts are not too tight. I want to have a friend look at it that is a better mechanic than I am before I tighten them up. As is is now there is a little exhaust leaking toward the rear of the engine. I'd like to the the alignment better but it not easy to change it - they probably have a tool to bend the exhaust pipe. Is a very small leak ever acceptable with these engines? Thanks. JEff

Just hang or the muffler or half a turn on a nut. Tighten up the exhaust port end first. The fit to the frame may not be perfect but should be close. If it is 'off' too much, it may not be the correct muffler, or it may be bent, or it may be a different head on your motorcycle that isn't original?

First, I imagine the fange is not flush against the head - that there is some space between the fange and the head. Second, if there is supposed to be some space will the space to equal by both studs - or will there a slightly unequal spacing between the fange and the head. I guess I am wondering if there is some adjustment that needs to be made to the exhaust pipe curve out of the head (although I doubt this). I have never seen an assembled Passport exhaust system and the bike is new to me. By the way, for those of you that have helped me order the correct parts, the stud was not broken off; rather, the previous owner must have let the 6mm nut vibrate loose and the stud must have then also vibrated out of the head. I cleaned up the threads and the new stud when in, no
problem. Thanks, Jeff
