First and foremost, go very gently with starting fluid, too much, and you can blow the head off the engine. I have totally stopped using it on gas engines and only reluctantly use it on diesels. If everything is right, you should not need it. Next, I would methodically check every connection to make sure they are clean, bright and tight. Is the battery fully charged? make sure the ground connection is clean and tight. Make sure the switch is functioning. Have you followed the troubleshooting guide below?

Hi, all.
I picked up this little project about a week ago and is in the process (hopefully) of restoring it. I've been trying to get it to start but have not gotten any luck. I have uploaded a video for you guys to see. I've emptied the tank and added new fuel. I've added some oil to the chamber as some members have suggested in previous "no start" threads. I've fully and half-hearted choked the carb. I've tested for compression (much better after the added oil). I've replaced and tested the spark plugs. I have even tried the starter fluid "short cut" but still it will not turn over (all i get from it is a warmer than cold exhaust pipe; am I using enough starter fluid?). The bike does have a functioning starter (not shown in the video). Is this a timing problem? It's 83 and cdi; the shop manual indicates it cannot be adjusted? I am stumped! Ithere is another "on/off/ground" switch somewhere that I don't know about, please put me in my place...Any and all
input/advice will be greatly and much appreciated!
