Matt, the black sparkplug is not due to points, rather due to running extremely rich. Your fuel to air mixture is way off.

how do i set my points ? i see that there are some small screws but that doesn't change anything and with them being so small the manual says to loosen them but if i do this they will fall out.My points look good according to the manual but i keep getting black sparkplugs
