Hi Evan, I just changed my rear tire with a Gazelle two days ago. What worked for me was using some WD40, sprayed it on the tire and it poped in with just a little effort. The dish washing liquid wasn't effective for me either.

I always use washing-up liquid and trample the tire in place, using my steelcap workshoes.
I also inflate the tube a little, so it isn`t getting caught between the tire and the rim.
