Tim : If you have already replaced the spark plug . Easiest & cheapest "fix" to try first. You may need to find out if your spark plug cap & plug are both resistor type . One or the other is OK but NOT both . Two resistors is one too many . If your spark plug is fairly new get a new plug cap ,but make sure they are not both resistor type.

Subject: [Honda-C70] Next step! Coil and or points?
Appreciate all of the help getting to this point. I have determined - with your help - that it is not the carb! Brought the 81 passport to a local bike shop and had the mechanic listen to the "pop". He said it was missing at the early stages, and the idle and top speed were ok. Clearly electrical, thanks Huey!, now what. Put original carb back on bike.....
I guess the coil is my next step. Where should I get one and how easy is it to install. How about the wiring to the coil and to the plug. should I replace that as well.
This has become a full time job!!!
