hmm, that is a bit of a quandary. Could she sell them to you as parts bikes? if so, maybe all you would have to do is then restore one or both and then have the gov't inspect them and declare them road worthy and you start out fresh. that has worked for some of the ones I have gotten here in the US and no road taxes or even ad valorum taxes had to be paid. the bill of sale specifically said they were "as is" and for parts/restoration only. good luck

I've checked the registrations with the DVLA site
One is 1978, last on the road in 1996, so is exempt from sorn for the time being.
The other is 1987 was last on the road in 2003.
according to that site it's "not" SORN ...
so .....when i go to register it ....does the old owner get found out and receive a massive fine.
for the non uk... Sorn stands for statutory off road notice....was introduced in 1998
if vehicle isn't taxed ..you are required to fill out a form ..."sorn notice" and inform the DVLA ...driver vehicle licence agency..that it is off the road .....if you don't ..you will get massive fines of £400 plus .
The dilemma is... do i buy ......i wouldn't want to send an old granny to her grave...she cant find the docs either .
