Yes one time i ruined the engine by doing the hard break in, the dyno style thing. I also started using the too thin 10w30 weight oil in summer. That cost me one rebuild plus con rod play etc etc.
This time im all ok.
Yes new oil is nooooooooooooo problem for me. In fact right now at home I have about 10 liters just sitting and waiting to be used (I loved the idea of can shake before pouring out ^_^).
Im trying here to keep oil clean from 0 km till 1000 km mark. Plus, if I extend to 1600 km, environment will thank me, although I will not dump it in drain but give it to a collector, who will reuse it in his own way and maybe my drained oil will end up in a tractor, who knows. Reuse of drained oil is a thriving business here. They make it clear I dont know how. Or maybe burn it in furnace.
This time my rings will get super care. And mechanic will go broke or catch some other fish.

Ali : I would have to agree with Mike G on this one . Isn`t this your 3 rd top end rebuild ? Is your mechanic living well ? Isn`t new oil cheaper than rebuilds ? On the other hand it is a good thing to get the grit out of the motor often . Good Luck ! Baby Huey

Is there a shortage of new oil there?
Don't do this at home, folks.
