Edoardo Mortara has secured his first ever DTM pole for the fourth round at the Red Bull Ring, Austria. It was Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom who laid down the first time of 1:27.173. The top four were to shift around in the first few minutes when Mortara nailed a 1:26.179 to top the list.

Ekstrom would go to the top with a 1:26.174 just before the end of the session.

Merhi, Priaulx, Wickens, Wolff, Frey and Coulthard are out.

Q2 saw Ekstrom head to the top with a 1:26.519 early on. Two minutes later Mortara would go 1:25.847 for first. Paffet would top Tomczyk for a 1-2.

Farfus, Molina, Rockenfeller, Vietoris, Tambay, Scheider are out for Q3.

The third session was super tight with lots of lead changes. In the end Ekstrom lead Mortara, Tomczyk, Paffett, Hand, Spengler, Green, Albuquerue, Werner, Schumacher.

It was down to 2 Audi A5 DTM’s and 1 BMW and Mercedes AMG for Q4.

Mortara’s 1:26.171 would edge out Paffet’s 1:26.292 by a blink of an eye. Ekstrom pulled up in third (1:26.319) knocking off ex-Audi driver Tomczyk with a 1:26.408.

Congrats to American Joey Hand/BMW landing in 5th.

Audi’s Albuquerque fastest in second free practice from the Red Bull Ring

It was another Audi A5 DTM at the front with Filipe Albuquerque topping the chart. Albuquerque hit a 1:25.654 on the the 2.6 mile circuit which bested Rockenfeller’s time of 1:27.271 yesterday by 1.6 seconds.

Audi’s Edoardo Mortara was also faster than yesterdays top time with a 1:25.748 and a mere .094 seconds off Albuquerque.

Four Audi A4 DTM’s were in todays top 5 with Mattias Ekstrom and Timo Scheider taking fourth and fifth respectively.

Mike Rockenfeller finished in eighth.
