If I remember you put on an after market carb. If so the slide needle should be in the middle groove for most bikes that have not been modified ,air cleaner, exhaust, big bore kit, ect. By moving the "C" clip on the slide needle to a groove further from the pointed end you would get a leaner mixture [longer needle] in the mid range. And your main jet would get into full use later , [cork pulled from a bottle ] effect . A flat spot on high speed, bogging or stuttering , can point to the points rubbing block has worn down & points need to have the air gap adjusted so that the coil has enough time to recharge to fire the plug at high speed . A word of advice on points " don`t take the wire to the points loose if you can avoid it . Any change from the EXACT order of wire, washer, nut ,spring ,will ground the points to the backing plate ." I get it wrong every time I take the nut loose . There are no timeing marks to go by just eye the widest gap & measure with the correct feeler gauge. Read the manual first . Good Luck ! Baby Huey PS If your bike is an 82/83 it has CDI instead of points.

Subject: [Honda-C70] Zeroing in on Carb adjustment....
Ok, with all your help I have gotten closer. Have adjusted idle and air screw so that all in all bike running really well. However, at times when I pull back on the throttle the bike will flatten out and bog down. I am thinking the Needle jet is too short? Also have to install the gasket next to the insulator as I was told there could be an air leak? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you
