All plastic float + torch = melted plastic. Buy a new 1 is smarter! The float in my 1964 was plastic. How old is a brass float???

There must be some way you can "Braze" it shut again. It was originally.
Wonder how the floats wear out?
But yeah, use a torch and try not to add too much material. If you have a postal scale weigh it before and after.
